In the United States, the need for immediate and effective crisis support is critical. According to the National Council of Mental Wellbeing, the average wait time to access behavioral health services is approximately six weeks, with some patients waiting even longer. These delays disproportionately affect certain populations. By forming Crisis Intervention Teams within our churches, we can begin to bridge this gap and provide immediate, compassionate support to those in need. With an estimated 300,000 churches and an average of 760 members per congregation, the potential to provide help is enormous.
We believe that every person has the potential to make a significant impact in their community, especially during times of distress. By joining forces and utilizing the strengths and experiences of each individual, we can create a network of support that transforms lives.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of crisis intervention, including recognizing signs of distress, understanding the psychological and emotional impact of crises, and offering immediate support.
Our training is rooted in Christian principles, emphasizing compassion, empathy, and love in crisis intervention. We explore how Scripture guides us in serving others during challenging times and foster a network of support.
We equip leaders with actionable strategies for providing comfort, safety, and hope to those in need. This includes effective communication skills, de-escalation techniques, and methods for connecting individuals with additional resources.
Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and resources to establish and lead a Crisis Intervention Team within their church or organization, ensuring sustained support for those in need.
